Samsung continues its efforts in trying to get ahead in the memory and storage market with a new line of speedy and high capacity SD and microSD cards. The PRO Plus and the EVO Plus storage cards are the upgrade to the current EVO line of microSD and SD cards from Samsung, and they boast of faster speeds to match the high capacity.
The PRO Plus line boasts of the higher read/write speeds of the two products – at around 90MB/s. This makes the PRO Plus line – which will come in both microSD and SD card form factors – ideal for handling professional-grade photos and 4K UHD video content created from high-end DSLRs, smartphones, tablets and modern action cameras. It will come in 64GB and 32GB capacities.
The EVO Plus line will be the more consumer friendly of the two new products. That said, it is still designed for the rapid integration 4K UHD video into consumer content, so it still needs to be speedy enough to handle large content. The EVO Plus line will have read speeds of 80MB/s and write speeds of 20MB/s – still at par, or even faster than what is normal with storage cards today. This line will have 128GB, 64GB, and 32GB models.
There is no information yet on the pricing, so we wait with baited breath for that information to come out. Samsung says that these storage products might make it to market as soon as the end of May or June 2015. Who wants one of these?
