One of the newest things that the Android 5.0 Lollipop brought to devices on this platform is the guest mode feature, which essentially allows each Android smartphone or tablet to have multiple users on just one gadget. However, Samsung chose not to have this function on their devices, for some reason. But now, it looks like their newest flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be getting this feature once they have been upgraded to Android 5.1.1 which should be coming really soon.
Guest Mode allows other users to log on to your device, without necessarily messing up or even using your current settings and apps installed on your phone or tablet. Each user will have their own space and access (user name and password), and they can choose to install their own apps, personalize their homescreens, and if your device has a fingerprint sensor (as the newer Samsung device have), they can have their own fingerprint log in. Not a lot of us will probably use this feature (except if you have kids or siblings who constantly borrown your devices), but it is a pretty neat option to have.
It’s pretty disappointing though that Samsung chose not to have this on their devices, even if you have upgraded to Lollipop. And even if there is a probability that Guest Mode will be present not just on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, but on any device that upgrades to 5.1.1, not all will receive the Lollipop update.
There is no word yet on when 5.1.1 will roll-out to said devices. However, T-Mobile has reportedly started rolling out an OTA update for Galaxy S6 edge users, so it seems it might be coming later rather than sooner.
