Your smartphone’s call function really isn’t the sexiest, and even though you use it a lot of times, you wouldn’t exert any effort into finding apps to improve it right? But don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, and one of those that you should try is Call Utils. It brings more functionalities to your calls, which includes notes popping up regarding the people you’re talking to, and the ability to reject unwanted calls.
When you’re talking to someone, you sometimes forget important details about the person or the subject you’re talking about or you want to jot down notes but you don’t to do it on paper. Call Util’s NoteTag feature allows you to create pop-up call notes for your contacts which you will see everytime you make or receive a call from that contact. You can also add notes while you’re still on the call, and you can also send that note to the person you’re talking to. However, the free version only allows you 50 characters per note and 10 notes for 10 contacts only. The Pro version will give you unlimited characters and notes so if this is important to you, you better upgrade to Pro.
The app also has other great features to keep unwanted callers and calls at bay. You can activate the Call Reject function where your phone will automatically reject calls from numbers you’ve set, even before they ring. You can also choose to have an automated response after the call has been rejected. You can make exceptions for those contacts whose calls you want to go through even though you’re on Call Reject mode. If you know the numbers that you never want to reach you, you can put them on the Call Blacklist. You’ll see on your call logs if they attempted to call you, but they will never get through.
Call Utils also gives you the ability to record the calls (but you better tell the person you’re talking to that it’s being recorded) in five different formats: MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC and FLAC. You can download the app from the Google Play Store for free. There is a Pro version for $1.99, but just based on the NoteTag features we mentioned, it should be worth it.
