If you’re a TV series buff and you’re not using the SeriesGuide app, well, you should. It’s all the information you’ll ever need about what series on TV you’re currently following. But a strange thing happened a few days ago, when Google removed the app from the Play Store without warning. It’s back as of time of writing, and we know now what the cause of the removal was.

The app developer was expecting it, but it still came as a mild shock – the app was removed due to Google’s strict copyright policy in app screenshots. It was deemed that the old screenshots of the SeriesGuide app, filled with images of from TV series galore, was infringing copyright. That was why the app was removed.

Now the app screenshots are boring colored boxes, which will fill up, by the way, with pictures taken from legal sources like TheTVDB once you download and use the app. Still, boring screenshots are boring.
