Wireless charging is still a young technology but this one has a lot of potential to be successful and in demand. There are only a few manufacturers using this tech but it can soon be a standard because of the ease and convenience it offers. IKEA and Starbucks have already joined the bandwagon by offering a new furniture line with wireless charging and bringing Powermat charging in Starbucks in San Francisco. That wireless and cable-free life you’ve been dreaming of can become a reality someday.
Wireless charging eliminates the need to plug in and plug out a device. Not that it’s a challenge to do (you only need a few seconds) but there is a solution to almost everything now. Another company who wants to take advantage of the young industry is Duracell with a new Wireless Charging Ring.
Charging Ring? This product is a simple add-on to a mobile device that doesn’t have built-in wireless charging capabilities yet. You see, phones still need to have some special powers features before they can be charged wirelessly. Duracell has been working on a ring (a dongle actually) that you can attach to a phone. Simply put, it’s a MicroUSB dongle that hides the inductive charging coil underneath.
Remember that Powermat Ring in a Starbucks branch in San Francisco? It’s the same series from Duracell but it’s only now that the wireless charging mat and the ring are becoming are gaining more attention. Sure, it’s not exactly wireless because you still need to plug the phone and convert to make it wireless but it’s a huge step for mankind. Who’s getting one?
Product available for only $53.98.
