Remember when DuckDuckGo was just an upstart search engine that promised not to profile you for ads and such (hello Google)? Well, the guys behind the search engine which promises to give everybody the same result for specific search terms are testing out a new version of their Android app, and it’s trying to fit in into a Lollipop world.
It’s really amusing to see an app so anti-Google in its concept try to keep tabs with something so inherently Google as the Android ecosystem. DuckDuckGo promises one thing, your privacy when you do your searches. It doesn’t keep a record of what you search for and build a profile on you. Private searching – that’s what the new search engine promised (unlike, say, Google Search).
But as Android moved along and everybody would now have to keep up with Lollipop, even DuckDuckGo is updating the way it looks, as well as adding some new features. The new app now collects your favorite searches in one place. They’ve also made your recent searches as part of the search process.
If you want to try out the new beta – as it is not yet in the Google Play Store – you can follow our source link and find the download links there. Make sure you uninstall any previous version of the app though, before installing the new beta app.
