You’ve often heard it said that “music saves lives”. Well, in this new Android game, they do mean that literally, or at least, digitally. BeatDefense is a fusion of a missile arcade game and Dance Revolution, but this time for your fingers. You need to defend your city by getting rid of all the missiles that want to eradicate everything, all with the power of rhythm. But don’t worry, you’re not supposed to dance your way out of trouble. You just go with the beat.
Your goal with this game is to prevent the missiles from destroying the buildings and killing the people below. But it’s not just as simple as tapping on them to destroy them. You need to tap on the white reticles in time with the music. That’s where experience in rhythm tapping games like Dance Dance or Guitar Hero comes in handy. Whenever you’re successful in tapping with timing, it will intercept an incoming missile. If you don’t the missile will crash below and destroy collateral damage-y structures and people.
The music plays a huge part in the game, and it is by “the best Creative Common artists”. Even the buildings are pulsing to the beat so expect that your head will be nodding as well, and maybe your shoulders and feet too. The game has eight levels that start from the easiest all the way up to “totally unfair”. The graphics of the game uses pseudo-retro 8-bit graphics. You can record your gameplay and share it on social networks should you wish to do so using Everyplay!
You can download BeatDefense from the Google Play Store for free. There are optional in-app purchases available, in case you need a little extra help getting through the levels.
