ZTE Blade S6 Plus

ZTE may not be “up there” with the biggest brands but the Chinese manufacturer is certainly making a name in the mobile industry with affordable smartphones. Only less than two weeks after the Nubia Z9 Mini and Z9 Max , a new mobile is introduced in the form of the ZTE Blade S6 Plus. This ‘Plus’ is a actually a phablet version of the Android Lollipop-powered ZTE Blade S6 which debuted in January. As with any other flagship phones, the Blade S6 got a bigger sibling. Phablets are expected to be expensive but ZTE is offering this one for a low price of $299.99. A sub $300 phone-tablet is considered mid-range–very affordable for anyone who wants a bigger smartphone.

You can buy the premium phablet via eBay. It’s priced £199.99 in the UK and €276.99 for the rest of Europe. The CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices, Adam Zend, disclosed that Blade 6 launch was successful, so they thought of bringing a version with a larger screen. As for the specs, they’re almost the same: Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset, Adreno 405 image processor, MiFavor 3.0 user interface, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The screen is larger at 5.5-inch but still the same HD display, also with in-cell technology. There’s a 3000mAh battery in contrast to the 2400 mAh internal battery of the Blade S6.

The 0.5-inch difference in screen size may be small but the Blade S6 Plus is more than welcome. It can work as an infra-red remote control to control TVs, air-conditioning units, set-top boxes, and other gadgets that have infra-red. Phone is currently listed on eBay Greater China’s website and the company is introducing the new product to its 155 million customers globally.

Over 20 million units have been sold under the Blade series already and ZTE hopes to exceed expectations with the ZTE Blade S6 Plus.

  1. I have it as the Vodafone Ultra6. Don’t notice any difference with the superior PPI . SdCard tray is dangerously fiddly. Lag with Apps as none are optimised for ART or octacore…
