For a game to have lasted 30 years and still be popular even in a new setting is an achievement indeed. Boulder Dash is one of the games that has stood the test of time (and competition!) and to celebrate the 30th Anniversary Edition late last year, they released a free game. But apparently, people are willing to shell out a little more in order to get more than what the free version can give you. So due to insistent public demand, they now have a premium edition for Boulder Dash.
If you’re not familiar with what Boulder Dash is (or if you’ve been living under a, well, boulder), it’s a long-running game franchise where the basic idea is you collect gems by digging around and avoiding dying from all these traps and obstacles. For the 30th anniversary edition, it got a rejuvenated 2.5D and 3D graphics look as well as brand new worlds to mine from and new monsters to escape from. It also has added several new elements like diagonal movement and using ramps to change the game a little.
For this premium edition, you’ll be able to get more than 200 all-new levels, which will include never before seen worlds and even creatures. You also get even more multi-colored gem combos, treasure chests, more power-ups, all to help you rack up as many points as you can. There are 8 unlockable worlds, and then four more that will be available through an in-app purchase. You can choose to play as Rockford, the main protagonist, but if you want to choose other characters, you need to unlock these 8 male and female characters, which also includes another popular one, Crystal.
You can choose to still play the free version (but without the features we mentioned) of Boulder Dash 30th. Or you can shell out just $2.99 and buy the premium edition from the Google Play Store.
