The folks over at Facebook are not resting on their laurels despite being the largest social network in the market. They have been trying out new products, apps, and features, some becoming successful, some failing spectacularly, some being resented and eventually embraced by users. Looks like the newest product they will come out with soon is a dialer and caller ID app, if a leaked image can be believed.

Oftentimes in the past, Facebook would test out some of their products on some users, to get a feel of what the market thinks about a feature like that. This time around, we don’t know if this glimpse into a new thing they’ll be offering was intended or someone just accidentally pressed the wrong button. The “Try Phone [FB Only]” note in this might be an indication that it was unintended at all.

We’re not getting much info from this screencap, except that this new feature/app will be called Phone (how imaginative eh?) and that what it will do is to show you who’s calling (your phone or your FB?) and then helps block numbers from commonly blocked numbers (okay, that is confusing). Users who saw this feature said that nothing happened when you click th install or update button, except to bring you to a page that says “no page found”.

So yeah, it looks like someone just mistakenly uploaded it and it’s not for testing or anything, at least not yet. Facebbook said, they are “always testing things” and as of now, there are no announcements to be made yet.
