If you enjoyed the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service and would like to become a cool super spy like Colin Firth, you better have Google Maps installed in your smartphone to be able to get the chance to go on an interactive adventure. Your smartphone will not just be your constant companion, but it can actually turn into a “multi-purpose superspy gadget” as you try to finish the tasks set for you in order to Become A Kingsman.
Yes that is both your goal in this game and the name of the actual online and mobile experience. Google Maps plays an important part in the second mission, as you use the Street View Image API to get around King’s Cross and interact with various characters from the graphic novel turned movie. Your task is to find potential targets so you can shake them down to find out the things that you need to know to win the game.
The folks over at Google Maps used their Javascript API together with real images of the railway station with the Street View. Then they put in the Kingsman characters for you torture, oh wait, we mean interrogate and investigate. They also used custom Street View panoramas with full tile sets for each, a custom user interface, and the ability to interact with your favorite characters.
If you’re interested in the much technical details of how Google was able to leverage on their technology to be part of this interactive game, you can go to their Google Developers page. And if you feel like playing the game (whether or not you’ve actually watched the movie) and become a Kingsman, you can head on over to their Become A Kingsman page.
