There are a lot of great watchfaces out there for your Android Wear smartwatch no matter what brand you’re wearing. But people have been expecting Google to come out with their original stuff, and fanboys know that when they do, they’ll come out with a bang. Now if you’re a fan of street art and Google Art Project artists, you’ll be very happy to know that the tech giant has collaborated once again with the art community to enter the watch face market.
The software is simply and directly called Street Art Watch Face and they have teamed up once again with some of the most famous Google Art Project collaborators like Aitch, Andre Fernandes Trindade, Cheko, DRAW, and Drawing Jesus. The watchfaces have three categories or styles: Analog, Digital, and Minimal. You can switch among those three and among the many artists they’ve commissioned to create hip and cool designs. You can also flip on and off the display date and time, so that you can display some of the art without “interference”.
Street Art is still a popular and steadily growing form of ghetto/urban art and a lot of people would love to carry images of this indelible form of expression on their wrists. Other commissioned artists include Erik Otto, Gemeniano Cruz, God Mess, Hugo Lucas, Katch, L Is Not An Artist aka Luísa Cortesão, and Mariana Dias Coutinho, Mercedes deBellard & Cheko, Nark, Nicolae Negura, Paulo Arraiano, Pedro Batista, Phibs, Reach, Samina, and Slap.
If you’re not familiar with some (or any) of these artists, just Google them and take a look at their body of work, to help you narrow down your choices for your watchface. Or you can always switch them around, depending on your mood. Of course you need an Android Wear smartwatch connected to your Android smartphone to be able to enjoy these. You can download the app from the Google Play Store for free.
