Bento for most people means a box of delicious meals most common among the Japanese. No, we’re not promoting any Japanese restaurant just this new intelligent app for Android coming soon on the Google Play Store. App is still being developed by Bento Labs but we’ve seen a preview of this app that can turn a smartphone’s homescreen into a very smart space as it remembers your mobile behaviors and preferences.
We’ve seen similar apps before but this one looks neat and intelligent. App can remember whatever you do on your phone whether on frequently used apps, notifications, and content. To make things easier, Bento lets you access other apps right on the homescreen via cards. No need to open individual apps if there’s a shortcut to accessing it.
Smartphones are considered as small computers but really, they don’t remember as much. This Bento app for Android provides a simple solution. It can remember a user’s location. Since the phone already knows where the person is, it can automatically show an Uber card because phone also knows you need a ride. At a certain time, your phone can show you a Yelp card because it knows it’s time for you to have your lunch.
Bento app makes it easy for the user to make use of apps already installed on the phone. It’s simply a shortcut on the homescreen, showing cards with information from apps that are always used. The idea of Bento is to use preconfigured cards to show on the mobile interface.
There seems to be a trend in making smartphones even smarter with improvements on the notifications screen, homescreen, and some launcher apps that are becoming more useful. With Bento, you can have the relevant information you need on time–easily accessible from the homescreen. With a single glance on your screen, you can read information that you need.
Bento Labs isn’t finished with the app yet but the team has already prepared several cards. The developers dream of a “world where there are limitless cards” and Bento working as an efficient distribution channel. The Android version is being developed first but there are plans to bring Bento to other mobile platforms.
Bento app is currently in beta and invite-only. You can sign up at Bento’s website if you want to try the app.
