vaio android phone

As we all know, VAIO, Sony’s former laptop unit, has joined the mobile industry. We said the company has started working on Android handsets and is expected to compete with its old parent Sony in the Android game. It’s currently working with mobile carrier Japan Communications to produce its first official Android smartphone early this 2015.

This week, Japan Communications announced that the first VAIO smartphone will be unveiled officially on March 12, Thursday. That’s more than a week after the MWC 2015 so let’s not expect anything from the new company next week. Not much details have been shared but we’re excited to see how Vaio has designed the smartphone that could rival Son’y Xperia line.

Japan Communications and VAIO’s partnership seems perfect given both their expertise in the mobile industry. Vaio has more experience in the hardware arena–from laptop to smartphone– which makes it easy for the company to develop one. We’re expecting the VAIO smartphone to be well-equipped and offer something new. Rumor has it the phone will resemble an Xperia and will have a 2GB RAM, 64-bit Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 chipset, 16GB built-in storage, 5-inch 720p display screen, 13MP and 5MP cameras, and Android 5.0.

March 12 is only a couple of weeks from now so we’ll see.
