Game developer David Amado Fernandez is known for making tribute games – say for example, the game “Hundred Fires” which is a tribute game for Metal Gear Solid. His most recent effort is a big nostalgia trip, especially for those who remember playing Super Mario and Legend of Zelda on a Nintendo 64 console. That’s what Super Legend Flynn 64 is – a heck of a trip down gaming memory lane.
The game allows users to play Flynn – the main dude in the game – as he journeys through an expansive Nintendo 64-inspired world. But what you might enjoy as much as playing the game itself is locating the campy references for the classics in video game history – including Mario, Assassin’s Creed, and even Sonic The Hedgehog – which are littered throughout the game.
The gameplay has a lot of influences, you would notice. Think of Mario 64, Super Mario Land, and a lot of Zelda – giving you classic console style combat where players can either kill enemies with a sword, or maybe just hop on the bad guy’s head. We admit, it’s got us pretty curious.
The game is a paid download on Google Play, get it for USD$1.59. If you’re thinking of one game that packs all the nostalgia you could ever ask for in an N64-themed app, this is the one for you. Enjoy!
