If you’ve been waiting for Google to make more features and updates for their Inbox for Gmail app, then the wait is now over. And if you’re still confused as to why they had to create a different email app when the Gmail one was already pretty good, then this is your time to try it out (after asking a friend for an invite of course). The latest update now brings the app to your Android tablets, as well as to browsers other than Chrome.
While it is still in the invite-only phase (for now), Inbox is expanding its reach by adding more digital places where you can access it. Google has released an Inbox app for Android tablets so that you can now view your emails on a bigger screen (it’s also now available for iPads as well). The interface is not just a smartphone app blown app for the tablet. It’s actually just as intuitive and “non-traditional” as when you were using it on a smaller screen, so it’s familiar and at the same time a good fit for your tablet.
Meanwhile, Google has also added other browsers where you can access Inbox from. You can now use it on Firefox and Safari, but it is still blocked on others like Internet Explorer, Opera, etc. Eventually, they will probably open it up to other browsers as well, particularly those which are HTM5-compliant. But for now, if you want to access Inbox on your desktop browser, you have to stick with those aforementioned browsers.
You can download the Inbox for Gmail app from the Google Play Store. To be able to view it on the supported browsers, simply head to inbox.google.com.
