NVIDIA Shield tablet owners have a new software update that is available now for the device. The update brings the tablet software to version 2.2 and probably the most important thing in the update for gamers is that GRID gets more PC games that can be streamed for free.
The new games include Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7, PixelJunk shooter, and GRID 2 among others. As always, you don’t need a PC to stream these games. The update also brings with it improvements for standby battery life, especially when WiFi is turned on.
More battery life is a big deal for users, so that is a welcome update. NVIDIA has also added broader support for high performance chargers. Other enhancements have been made to the tablet. The enhancements include additional UI responsiveness, memory optimizations, and fixes for a graphics corruption issue.
Shield Hub 4.1 support is also built-in. The key to that is GameStream multi-controller support. It’s nice to see that NVIDIA is updating GRID quickly since it was only announced back in November. The service had 20 games at launch and new games are being added each Tuesday.
