If you think that side-scrolling monochromatic mobile games will not be able to give you nightmares, then maybe you haven’t met Limbo yet. The award-winning game has been wrecking lives of console and PC gamers for the past years, and now, it is now ready to scare the crap out of mobile gamers as Limbo is now available for Android smartphones and tablets.
One of the keys to a creepy game is to have a creepy backstory. In Limbo, you are a young boy who is desperately looking for his lost sister. For some unexplained reason, he wakes up in a place called Limbo and the rest of the game is spent trying to get out of this dreary place, while trying to survive monsters and the dreary landscape itself. The graphics are simple and minimalist, but it doesn’t mean that it can’t terrify you. In fact, sometimes the more monochromatic something is, the scarier it becomes.
In terms of gameplay and control, it’s simple enough. You just swipe on your device on the direction you want your character to go. Swipe up to jump, swipe left to go left, you get the picture. Again, just like the visuals, it may be simple, but sometimes the simpler it is, the more addicting it becomes. And if you have the stomach to go through a creepy, dark forest with unexpected creatures and surprises, then this game is for you.
You can download Limbo from the Google Play Store for $4.99. It might be a bit pricey, but fans of this game from its PC, X-Box, and PS3 days will tell you it’s worth it.
