Sony has announced a new smartphone today called the Xperia E4 that is aimed at users wanting entertainment and long battery life from a smartphone. The Xperia E4 is available in a single SIM and a dual SIM version and comes in black or white colors. Other than the dual SIM cards on the Dual version the two devices have the same hardware features.
Those features include Android 4.4.4 out of the box, a 1.3GHz MTK MT6582 quad core processor, 1GB of RAM, and up to 8GB of storage. Storage expansion is available via microSD cards. The screen measures 5-inches and has a resolution of 960 x 540 with 167k colors.
The rear camera has a resolution of 5MP and 4x smooth zoom with the ability to record full HD resolution video. The front camera is a 2MP unit with the ability to record 720p video. The smartphone has an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. Supported networks vary a bit depending on the model chosen. The E2104 supports UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz, GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz.
The E2105 version supports UMTS HSPA+ 900 (Band VIII), 2100 (Band I) MHz, GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz. Power comes from a 2300mAh internal battery good for up to 12 hours and 11 minutes of talk time on GSM networks and up to 696 hours of standby. On UMTS networks, the battery is good for 12 hours and 43 minutes of talk. With only 8GB of storage, 5GB is available for the end user with the other 3GB used for firmware. Both the single SIM and dual SIM versions will launch in mid February at an undisclosed price.
Where is two day battery life ? I only see 2300mAH with 12 Hours up time.
