LG has now decided that it wants in on the virtual reality (VR) headset market, and it’s doing it with current gen technology. The LG G3 is now being partnered with Google Cardboard, those DIY VR headset enthusiasts, and the result is that consumers will now receive a free Google Cardboard VR headset for every LG G3 purchase.
Quite like the Gear VR for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, this new VR combo leverages on the G3’s sharp and vibrant 4K display as the main engine for the VR display. And with LG’s patented “rear key” layout, it will be more convenient to actually control audio volume for this VR headset. The official brand name, by the way, is “VR for G3”.
The model for the headset is manufactured by LG themselves, but is made exactly by Google Cardboard’s specs for VR headsets. The headset will have its ergonomics and design compatible only for the LG G3. It requires little to no assembly at all, other than inserting the phone in the viewer.
A good question here is, will users who bought the LG G3 earlier still be eligible for this promo? That would be a good question to ask LG themselves. If you’re an LG G3 user, would you want something like this?

Hey, if they’re giving it away for free, I’ll take it. Just don’t stiff those of us that purchased the G3 before this.
