Collect monsters, train them, or fuse them together through the act of “soulbinding”. This, in essence, is what gamers can do in the new game from Kemco called Valkyria Soul. If it sounds like it might be a little like Pokemon, the funny thing is that because it actually is a little similar in concept to the Japanese franchise. Read on if you fancy a Norse mythic game with Pokemon gaming elements.
Kemco’s newest release for Android takes the usual RPG and adds a new twist, that of collecting and training creatures which are essential to the game’s storyline. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world; the player takes on the role of Huginn, an in-game character who is given the task of resurrecting the Norse god Odin. Together with the legendary Maiden of Battle Regenleiv, who acts as your mentor and guides you along the way, you embark on an epic journey where you must collect and level up creatures and monsters that will come in handy in your goal to raise Odin back to life.
Instead of the usual hack-and-slash RPG where you go on quests and sub-quests to level up your main character and concentrate on fulfilling your mission, Valkyria Soul puts a premium on the collecting and training monsters aspect, which makes it quite similar to Pokemon, except for the largely Norse mythology flavor. Much of the game centers on this trait as well, as training and leveling up the monsters in your arsenal can either spell success for your quest or doom it to failure, somewhat.
If this Norse Pokemon-like game is pretty much up your alley, Valkyria Soul is available at Google Play for only USD$3.99. You can also check out the trailer (below) to give you an idea of what the game looks like.
