If you’re not too keen on having external battery packs attached to your smartphone or putting it in a bulky self-charging phone case but still need to have extra power for your device, then you have very limited options for now. But one Kickstarter project is aiming to change that by offering the “world’s first smart wireless charging phone sleeve”. Ampere means to “reinvent the mobile charging experience” for those who are constantly on the go or suffering from nomophobia (fear of being out of mobile contact).
All you need to do is slide your smartphone into your Ampere sleeve and it will automatically charge already, without needing realignment or wired connections. Or if you need to use your device while charging, you can just place it on top of the sleeve and it will still be getting power from Ampere. It has a 2,700 mAh battery which should be enough to keep your phone going for one more cycle.
It also comes with a mobile app that can be connected to your Ampere through Bluetooth Low Energy. It will be able to track the battery life of both your smartphone and Ampere in precise hours and minutes. You can recharge your Ampere through a fast charging dual USB port which means you can charge two devices at the same time. In terms of looks, Ampere isn’t something you’ll be ashamed of using, as it is made of 100% genuine cowhide leather and comes in four colors (blackest black, blushberry, brogue, midnight black) you can choose from.
However, this currently only works with Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, Note 3, Note 4, and Nexus 5 (at least for Android devices). And for Samsung devices, you need to place a receiver over the battery for it to work. Ampere has already met its goal on Kickstarter but you can still support it since it has 26 days left on its campaign. Estimated delivery is August 2015.
