What started out as just a public service announcement to promote safety in the Metro Train stations in Australia turned into an award-winning viral campaign and global phenomena, spawning music videos, memes, parodies and an app and mobile game. Now Dumb Ways To Die is back with a game sequel with the same old fun, quirky challenges, but now with an expanded universe.
Dumb Ways to Die 2: The Games has a whole new slew of “dumb” characters that you need to save from inadvertently committing suicide. Sounds dark for a game that might appeal to kids eh? But it still retains the same light-hearted but sometimes brutal humor that has appealed to people the past years and in the game’s previous incarnation. It has 28 mini-games where you can solve puzzles and guide the characters to safety.
You have challenges like jumping electric fence hurdles, dynamite relay race, dolphin rodeo (just like a normal rodeo, but with dolphins!), rocket ski jump, landmine curling, etc. You get the point. It’s like normal action adventure games, but with an added element of deadly danger. As you get more points, you get to unlock the more popular characters (well, popular to those who are obsessed with the dumb characters). And if you learn something about train safety, then they have done their job.
While the game is free, there are several in-app purchases littered throughout the game. You are given tickets at the beginning of the game so you can get on “rides” or the games. When you run out of tickets, you have to wait until you’re given more or buy them outright if you’re impatient. But if you want to take that risk, you can download Dumb Ways To Die 2: The Games for free from the Google Play Store.
