If you are running Froyo but want a taste of Gingerbread on your device ahead of any update to the full Gingerbread OS you can grab the Gingerbread launcher on the app store right now. The new launcher app is part of Android 2.3, but can be downloaded and installed on Froyo devices.
AppScout reports that it looks visually just like the launcher that is on your device right now so it will look mostly the same. It’s what is under the hood that counts with this update. The new launcher is faster and a possible side benefit is that all of the apps and other stuff on your current launcher will be removed.
The downside to that is if you have your launcher just like you want it, you will have to put apps and widgets in again. You can search for “launcher” on the Android Market to find the app.
