Owners of the round-face Android Wear smartwatch Moto 360 will feel like they have a new wearable as the Motorola Connect update brings a whole slew of new features and options. For starters, you get new watchfaces including winners from a design competition and pretty deep customization options. A “mystery’ accessory called Keylink will also now be supported by the app while a health and wellness app for the wearable has also been included in the latest version of the Connect app.
Motorola held a design competition earlier this year in preparation for the Moto 360, and the winners now have their watchfaces featured in the app. Aside from the new designs, users now also have a whole slew of customization options, including the colors and look of the hands of the clock, the accents you want to include or disable, as well as date and day format options. The Moto Body health and wellness app for the smartwatch is also now included in the update, taking advantage of the device’s heart rate monitor. So far there doesn’t seem to be anything extraordinary about the app compared to other fitness apps for wearables, except that it looks nice on the round face of the 360.
The change log for Motorola Connect version 2.02.21 also includes support for something they call the Keylink, which is presumably a new upcoming accessory. Based on the description “Keep track of your things”, it’s a phone and key tracker that you can put on your keychain and can be paired with your Android or iOS smartphone. Probably through Bluetooth connectivity, you’ll be able to find your device or your car keys if you lose them, assuming that they’re just nearby.
