As Verizon would say it, “more tablets mean more options” for their US consumers. And so they drop a new tablet called the Verizon Ellipsis 8, which provides Verizon customers with a sort of in-between-er – should they wish to forego the Apple iPads or the Samsung Galaxy Tabs. And with very capable specs, the Ellipsis 8 provides a viable option for consumers looking to save a few bucks.
The specs are pretty straightforward – we’re looking at an 8.1-inch tablet, pretty handy, with a 1280×800 HD display. This is powered by a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor and a generous 5,000mAh battery. There’s a 5MP camera when you feel like taking a picture of something, and it has LTE connectivity (XLTE ready).
Given that spec line, it should be running a pretty updated version of Android, although Verizon fails to tell us in the tech specs which version it would be. We would hope that it is Android 4.4 KitKat, at the very least.
The tablet is available for USD$150 with a data plan, or USD$250 if purchased outright. The price range is certainly below the ones for say, an iPad Air or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S. If you want a shiny new tablet this holiday season without splashing the cash, the Verizon Ellipsis 8 should be a good option.
