Taking on Google as well as other cloud services, Amazon has used its data storage resources in order to offer its Prime subscribers yet another multimedia feature. This time, the focus is on the memories and moments that you capture with your smartphone or tablet camera. Prime members can now upload their photos, automatically or manually, to Amazon’s cloud, without having to worry about space or security.

Amazon Prime members, at least in the US, already have both video and music streaming so it was only natural that photos would come next. Of course, you don’t necessarily have photo streaming, so Amazon is offering the next best thing: unlimited storage space for them. Throw in free two-day shipping, lightning deals, and, of course, Kindle, and you have even less reasons to leave Amazon’s warm embrace.

Prime Photos not only lets you upload photos to the cloud but you can also view them from any device as well. And that isn’t even limited to Amazon’s own devices. It also includes not just Android smartphones and tablets but even “big screen” devices like the PlayStation 3 and 4 and select LG and Samsung Smart TVs. And you can also store photos in their original resolutions, no matter how big they are. For uploading from Android devices, you will need to use the Amazon Cloud Drive Photos app from Google Play Store.

Amazon Prime Photos’ unlimited storage is free for Prime members in the US, but, of course, membership isn’t free. There’s a $99 annual subscription fee that will open the door to all these features. For a limited time, Amazon will be bundling one year of Prime for free if you buy a new Fire Phone, which sells for only $1 on a two-year contract with AT&T.
