This has been a big week for Android fans with Android Lollipop having been rolled out this week and the new Nexus 6 smartphone that landed from Google. Typically, when Google rolls out a new Nexus device, the old one disappears only to be seen in the support pages and on eBay.
This time out, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Early on, the Nexus 5 was listed as out of stock signaling that the Nexus 6 was coming. Once the Nexus 6 was unveiled, we assumed that the previous model was gone forever, and then something unexpected happened. The Nexus 5 came back in stock and is still prominently listed.
We don’t think this is due to some sort of bulk supply leftover that never sold Google wants to get rid of. We are thinking that this is more likely a play by Google to leave the Nexus 5 on the market and make it an entry-level device for fans of Nexus who might not have the budget for the latest and greatest.
Google refreshed the device’s homepage, it is listed between the Nexus Player, and Nexus 6 on the top menu of the site with a buy now button. The 32GB version of the smartphone can be had for $399.99.

Yea … they are leaving it up for sale after hearing backlash from the nexus community over a gigantic 6 inch $600+ phone. I bought a N5 on day one last year. I am not even remotely considering the stupid, gigantic, expensive Nexus6.
spot on
They should upgrade the n5
Wouldn’t that mean LG would have to actually manufacture a new product? I doubt that will happen.
Yes it would or moto could just manufacture a motox and call it nexus 5 2015
Yep. Smaller version of N6. A man can dream.
That’s the motox but……
I wish next time they would do two nexus versions
One like Moto G (2014) to be honest 720p 5″ is more than enough, i dare to say perfect to a smartphone screen.
And the second one with wichever ridiculous size and retarded screen resolution (hint hint qHD) make them happy.
Both with the same processor ofc.
I have the nexus 5, and i love it, but if this retarded screen trend continues, i will probably never buy a nexus again or even a high end smartphone.
Just stick with 720p or 1080p FFS for the sake of battery life and performance, qHD is useless, 1080p its too much already.
1080p is NOT too much and have you seen the battery life results on the Note 4/S5 2k version?
They are fantastic! 5 hours+ SOT is fantastic. Let technology evolve.
I notice a huge difference between 720p and 1080p.
