Since throwbacks and nostalgia seem to be the in things nowadays, are we really surprised that things from our childhood are coming back to give us that “has it really been ____ years since I watched/listened to/did this” feeling? One toy that some of us may have fond memories of playing with (and killing them eventually) is the tamagotchi. And while the actual toy is indeed making a comeback, there’s also a new way of playing with your virtual pet and that is through an Android app.
Tamagotchi Classic 2nd gen is exactly like you’d imagine the classic virtual pet to be, but this time on your smartphone. But actually, this isn’t the first time that it has found its way to the digital world. Tamagotchi Classic was launched almost a year ago, but this 2nd gen version features all new characters that you can turn into your virtual pets, for practicing on having real pets or just because you have nothing better to do than to feed, bathe or entertain these weird creatures.
Just like the previous version, the app has two modes. TOY mode will bring back those warm feelings of playing with your tamagochi back in the day as you can raise it in its virtual classic toy shell. The APP mode however brings more color and a modern feel in an updated, full-screen environment. As you raise your tamagochi, you can collect stars and unlock items like wallpapers and shells, which you can then use to customize the game.
While your tamagochi is sleeping or in the bathroom, you can also play mini-games like the memory match puzzle. Tamagotchi 2nd gen is available for $3.99 from the Google Play Store, still cheaper than getting the new actual tamagotchi which costs around $20.
nostalgia means expensive in this?
