Alcatel’s POP devices have been one the manufacturer’s most accessible products since its 2013 refresh – offering budget-friendly devices with respectable specs. At IFA 2014, it looks like we’re getting another refresh with Alcatel announcing the POP 2 series of phones – and from the looks of it, they’re going to be competitive with the other phones in their market.

The POP series of handsets have been one of Alcatel’s most popular devices, and that is set to continue with these brand spanking new POP 2 phones – all with LTE connectivity. These new phones – available in 4.5 or 5-inch displays – all sport Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 410 quad-core processors (1.2Ghz), a chipset with LTE connectivity as well.

These phones will come in a bunch of bright pastel color schemes, depending on which saccharine feel you want for your phone. And it looks like Alcatel has been doing a lot to improve on its software side as well, with the phones boasting casting technology (that is, watching your device display on a TV screen), native QR code recognition, one finger zoom and other such features. All of these are coming out with Android 4.4 on them, presumably.

Included with the POP 2 series launch is a new upgrade to the Alcatel POP 8 tablet – the new POP 8S tablet also now sports LTE connectivity and quad-core performance. We’re just at the beginning of IFA 2014 and the gadget craziness level has been off the charts. Watch out for more announcements that will be sure to come in the next few days.
