FreedomPop has announced its official switch to the Sprint LTE network. Perhaps key for users though — this means support for some new devices. FreedomPop will be offering support for several LTE handsets from Samsung. The devices include the Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S III and the Victory.
Those heading to FreedomPop with an LTE device can expect to get the same free services already offered to existing customers. Essentially that means a plan that includes 500MB of data, 200 minutes for voice calls and 500 text messages per month — all for free. But along with the newly announced LTE device support, FreedomPop also unveiled the Unlimited Everything plan.
This plan is priced at $20 per month and includes unlimited talk, text and data. Users will also get free tethering. The one catch with the unlimited aspect comes in with the data. Only the first 1GB of data will be at LTE speeds. After that has been used up — users will then shift to 3G speeds for the remainder of the month.
Lastly, FreedomPop has also announced the over-the-top (OTT) communications app for Android. This app is available from FreedomPop and will allow users to take advantage of FreedomPop’s free voice and text services. Users grabbing the OTT app will get a new phone number and be able to send and receive calls and text messages for free. The app will also allow users to port an existing number — should they like the service and feel comfortable making more of a commitment.
