The Plex Android app has once again been updated. The updated version of the app is already available in the Play Store, and perhaps more important is news about how this update brings a new feature. This new addition is called Camera Upload and is available for those with a Plex Pass subscription.
Camera Upload is just as the name would suggest — it will automatically upload images from your device. Those images upload to your library on your Plex Media Server. Or in other words, the Plex app will be sending these images to the computer where you are running Plex — and not to the cloud.
The Camera Upload functionality is turned off by default, however it can easily be activated by launching the app and heading into the settings. Just tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right, choose Settings, scroll down to Camera Upload and slide the slider to On. By default these images will upload only over WiFi, however you can also adjust that to upload over a cellular connection.
Plex for Android can be downloaded from the Play Store. The app itself is free to download and free to use, however some features (such as Camera Upload) are premium and that means a Plex Pass subscription is required.
