Another Yahoo branded app has arrived in the Google Play Store this morning. This latest is called Yahoo News Digest and it is one that aims to keep you informed on all the need-to-know news. The News Digest app offers a twice daily summary of the top stories.
Users can expect to get an update in the morning, then again in the evening. Each of the stories are based on details coming from multiple sources, and they include the “essential bits” as well as something Yahoo refers to as Atoms. The Atoms are described as being “key quotes, images, videos, maps, infographs, and Wikipedia excerpts among others.”
The app is available globally and now includes four editions in total. Those break down as the US and UK editions as well as a Canadian and International edition. The app also offers a homescreen widget which shows the most recent unread story in your digest.
While this app is new to Android, it actually launched back in January for iOS users. That bit sometimes angers some Android users, however in this case it means we have an interesting stat courtesy of Yahoo. They mentioned how 40 percent of those who download the app come back on a daily basis.
