T-Mobile unveiled the Simple Starter Plan yesterday. That was a $40 per month plan offering unlimited talk and text with 500MB of 4G LTE data. But along with the new plan, T-Mobile also mentioned how they would be doing a few rapid fire announcements. Basically the Simple Starter Plan was the announcement for day one of three. Today marks day two and the announcement of Operation Tablet Freedom.

This setup seems to be attacking tablets on two fronts. The first being the data, and the second being the price. T-Mobile had been offering 200MB of data for free, and Operation Tablet Freedom will increase that to 1.2GB. This means you’ll be getting a full 1GB more data per month for free. But there is a catch — the extra 1GB will only be available for a limited time.

Details from T-Mobile touch on how this will run through the end of 2014. Seems to be a case of the earlier you get on the bandwagon, the more free data you can use. Not to mention, with this going away once the calendar year rolls to 2015 — it seems T-Mobile may be counting on users getting attached to the 1.2GB limit.

Shifting over to the pricing and it looks like those will be decreasing. T-Mobile will be offering LTE equipped tablets for the price of WiFi tablets. The savings will depend on the tablet you choose. A provided example was for the Galaxy Tab 3, which you could get for $200 (the WiFi price) as opposed to $312 (the LTE price). T-Mobile also made it clear that “voice customers adding the 1GB tablet plan for free for the rest of 2014 also fully qualify for these reduced prices.”

As a recap, day one was the Simple Starter Plan and day two was Operation Tablet Freedom. Based on the original announcement from yesterday, it looks like we have another announcement coming tomorrow.
