Mistakes happen. And, usually when a company is dealing with multiple versions of something, they tend to happen more often. For example, if a company happens to have two different tablets shipping in the near future, it’s possible that someone typing up the specifications for one of them might, say, make a few mistakes, and put the wrong specifications down. It looks like someone at T-Mobile has made a mistake, because the Samsung Galaxy Tab’s specifications page certainly outlines a tablet, but it’s not the Galaxy Tab.
The specs page starts without a hitch. But, it’s when you start getting into the bulk of the specs that you notice something is very, very wrong. For example, the specs page has the Tab working not with the Android mobile Operating System, but rather Microsoft’s Windows 7 Starter Edition. That would be fine, if that were the only mistake, but it isn’t. The page goes on to say that the Galaxy Tab will feature a 160GB 2.5-inch, 5400 RPM SATA drive. It will also have a 10.1-inch LED touchscreen display, with a resolution of 1024 x 600.
You’ll also get included software that includes: Microsoft Works, Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.0, and McAfee’s Security Center with a 30-day free trial. Under the hood, you’ll get an Intel ATOM 1.66GHz processor, and 1GB of DDR2 533MHz SDRAM. Does this mean that there’s another tablet on the way to T-Mobile that, up until this point, has yet to be announced? It’s possible, sure, but the more likely candidate is that someone just made a big mistake.
So where’d the information come from? It’s more than likely that someone copy and pasted the information you’ll find with the Dell netbook that T-Mobile offers. It could certainly be a coincidence that the netbook offers the same specifications as this supposed Windows 7 tablet, but we doubt it. For the record, we don’t think that the Galaxy Tab will be launching next to a Windows 7 tablet. And, this will probably be changed very soon, as soon as someone figures it out.
