Google really wants you to use Drive. So much so, they’re offering a pretty great deal on cloud storage. With a newly announced pricing plan, we can now get more storage for less out of pocket. Google also says that those who are already paying for storage have nothing to worry about, since they’ll be migrated automatically to a new plan.
The 15GB option remains free for everyone, but if you need more than that, Google has you covered. Drive users can now enjoy 100GB of cloud storage for $1.99/month. That brings it in line with a plan many were grandfathered into, which was $5/year for 20GB. If you need more than that, there are options available.
For $9.99/month, you can get 1TB cloud storage. For those who have a Chromebook Pixel, the massive space of a full terabyte is well known. According to Google, you could “take a selfie twice a day for the next 200 years and still have room left over for… shall we say… less important things.” Most won’t need a full terabyte, but it’s nice to have the option.
If you need 10TB or more, plans start at $99.99/month. Great for a small business who wants to keep everything in the cloud, but less than approachable for casual users. We really like the 100GB option for most, as $24/year or so isn’t bad. If you like to keep things in the cloud for everyone to access, Drive is a good solution, and comes on every Android phone — so why not take advantage?

Quick question about these plans: Say I pay for a year of the 1TB plan and fill my drive, what happens when that year ends? Do I lose all of my data on drive past the free 15GB?
No. All data will be kept, but you can not upload any file until you free space below 15GB.
