Newcomer OnePlus has a slogan boasting that it will never settle for anything less, and now it seems that it applies to the laws of physics as well. Building up hype around its first ever smartphone, the company is now teasing the fact that the OnePlus will have a spacious 5.5-inch 1080p display crammed into a 5.0-inch frame.

To be clear, that photo above is the Sony Xperia Z1, which has a 5.0-inch screen. In the forum post that revealed this fact, CEO Pete Lau claims that the OnePlus One is actually lying beneath the Xperia Z1, completely eclipsed by the Sony smartphone. This implies that the upcoming device is even smaller than the 5.0-inch Xperia.

But despite that fact, the smartphone will still have a 5.5-inch display, with a 1080p resolution, at least that’s what leaks, rumors, and Lau’s implicit hint are saying. Some speculate that the device will barely have any bezel to make this possible, though that, of course, remains to be seen. It will definitely be an engineering feat worthy of praise if a company that didn’t even exist a few months ago manages to pull this off without unwanted side effects. But wait, there’s more! The screen will also feature Touch On Lens modules that practically eliminates the space between the touch sensor and the display itself, making touches more responsive and look more natural.

Given the leaks and rumors, which include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 16 GB of storage, and a 3,100 mAh battery, which is unfortunately not removable, and of course, CyanogenMod right out of the box, the OnePlus One is shaping up to be an interesting device. We still have to wait for the real deal, which is expected to debut around March 16.
