Those looking to quickly shorten URLs on an Android smartphone or tablet now have another app to consider. The app is called Google URL Shortener, and comes courtesy of Thomas Devaux. And just to clarify that last bit, this is not an official app from Google. Needless to say, it is easy to use, and does exactly what one would expect.
The app is touted as being a “full-featured client for the Goo.gl shortening service from Google.” Users will be able to shorten URLs, and also share them out quickly and easily. To that last point, once the URL has been shortened, you’ll get a notification that allows you to visit the link, copy the link, and also share the link.
Other features of the app include a clean looking card style user interface, the ability to star your favorite short URLs, and access your history (which is synced with the official Google url shortener setup). The developer also took time to make sure the app was optimized for a variety of devices including smartphones and tablets.
Google URL Shortener also brings the ability to access your data offline. Another highlight here is the reports and stats. Clicking on any shortened link from within the app will offer the basics such as total clicks. But it also goes into detail in terms of the referrers, browsers, countries, and platforms.
The Google URL Shortener app is available for free, and can be found in the Google Play Store.
