If you liked the Sony Xperia Z2 and thought “I wish I had a tablet like that”, your minute-long wait is over. In addition to the Xperia Z2 smartphone, Sony is announcing a Z2 tablet as well. The 10.1-inch device keeps a lot of what makes the Xperia Z2 smartphone great, and packs it into an amazingly slim design.
The Xperia Z2 tablet is an incredible 6.4mm thin, and 426g for the WiFi version. The tablet also comes in an LTE version, which bumps it up to 439g. The tablet, like its predecessor and smartphone brethren, is waterproof. It will also be available in both black and white variants.
Much like its smartphone comapnion, it will have the Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor at 2.3GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, and 3GB RAM. Digital noise canceling also remains on board, but the camera ensemble has changed a bit. Now we’ll get an 8.1MP shooter not he back, and a 2MP front-facing selfie machine. Sony says their battery stamina mode will help give you 10 hours of media playback.
Like they’re smartphone, there is just a lot to like about the Xperia Z2 tablet. It hits all the right notes, and even comes preloaded with OfficeSuite Pro 7 for the business minded folks. Sony is also saying their security architecture is good enough o safeguard all your info. For a 10.1-inch tablet, Sony’s Xperia Z2 is one of the best we’ve seen.
