SmugMug launched Camera Awesome for Android a short while back and while they quietly added support for the Nexus 5 after the initial launch, they have improved that support with this latest update. Camera Awesome v1.0.2 has arrived in the Google Play Store and along with the Nexus 5, this update brought added support for the Nexus 4 and HTC One as well as some general improvements that will benefit all devices.

Beginning first with the device specific changes we have the Nexus 5 first. The v1.0.2 update brought an improved exposure and flash handling. Nexus 4 users are said to have gotten additional flash handling improvements and HTC One users received HDR support. There was also mention of the ISO setting option coming available for additional devices, though, a specific support list was not included.

Otherwise, the Camera Awesome v1.0.2 update also had some more general, and seemingly welcomed improvements. These include some photo performance enhancements in the gallery and lightbox as well as improvement to the launch performance and speed to camera. Bottom line here, overall speed should be welcomed as we suspect many have missed capturing the image they wanted simply because the camera was slow to load.

Aside from this latest update, a previous update reduced the overall application size, made some stability improvements, fixed things so the last camera mode would be properly restored and made it so users could save images and/or videos to the SD card if they wanted. We spent a bit of hands-on time with Camera Awesome shortly after the initial launch (using the Galaxy Note 3 and Nexus 5) and can say the app remains installed and in-use on both devices.

Those looking for that earlier hands-on will be able to find the link by heading into the Story Timeline sitting below. As usual, the latest update for Camera Awesome can be found by way of the Google Play Store.
