Final Fantasy fans rejoice as yet another title in the acclaimed never-ending JRPG franchise hits Google Play Store as expected. The good news is that Final Fantasy IV: After Years isn’t exclusive to Japan and can be played in English. The bad news is that it’s just as pricey as the rest of the band.

Final Fantasy IV: After Years takes place seventeen years after the events of the original Final Fantasy IV, which is also available on Android. Players take control of Ceodore, son of King Cecil and Queen Rosa, as he strives to make a name for himself by enlisting on the elite airship fleet Red Wings. But just as his adventure begins, a mysterious second moon appears in the sky, causing widespread panic due to lingering memories of the catastrophic events that took place nearly two decades in the past.

The Android port of the title brings a full 3D treatment to the game. The game features ten tales, starting from Ceodore’s, which will unlock all the other tales. Final Fantasy gamers will be familiar with the hybrid turn-based gameplay of the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, and those who have played Final Fantasy IV: After Years in its previous incarnations will know how the moon’s phases can have drastic effects on the battlefield. Exclusive to this Android version of the game is an achievement system thanks to the Google Play Games services.

Like other Final Fantasy titles on Google Play Store, Final Fantasy IV: After Years comes with a relatively high price tag, this time at $15.99. Those already running Android 4.4 should note, however, that the game will not work with the new Android Runtime (ART) and should switch to the default Dalvik runtime before playing.
