Google has rolled out Opinion Rewards, an app that gives you Google Play Store credits just for being opinionated. Associated with your Google account and Wallet, Opinion Rewards was created by Google Consumer Surveys, a very simple survey creation service. The app will alert you when you’re eligible to answer surveys via a notification in your notification bar, which Google says will occur “about once a week”.
The surveys are said to be no longer than 10 questions, and take a few minutes. In our quick run-through of Opinion Rewards, it was really simple. A lot of yes/no and multiple choice stuff. Our particular survey was political in nature, and seemed to be a test of our cognitive capacity in regard to current events.
It did note at the end of the survey that not all surveys would be eligible for rewards. It isn’t quite offer that info ahead of time, so we’ll have to wait and see just how we know what we’re getting ourselves into. Google also notes that this app is only available to US residents, but we’d like to see it used more widely. that, of course, depends on the Play Store being more widely available.
Our survey took about two minutes, and is probably a great way to kill time here and there. The home screen also gives you a synopsis of your Play Store credits, and a link to go shopping. How much each survey would offer is unknown, and Google didn’t mention whether or not each survey participant would earn credit or not.
Only US… >.<
Kinda peculiar that the test survey asks you twice whether or not you approve of the job the POUS is doing. Is the NSA going to read my responses?
