There is always room for affordable mid-range Android tablets and no other major manufacturer probably has that category pinned down than ASUS. Now the company is making its two latest tablets, the MeMO Pad 8 and the MeMO Pad 10, available in its home court of Taiwan.

The two MeMO tablets were unveiled early last September at the IFA trade show in Berlin and sport rather acceptable hardware specs considering the price point. Both tablets run on an unnamed 1.6 GHz quad-core processor which is paired with a Mali 400 MP4 graphics chip. RAM is set to 1 GB. Despite the difference in screen sizes, both tablets have a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. Both are equipped with WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and microUSB connectivity.

Of course there are differences between the two. The 8-inch model only comes with one internal storage configuration of 16 GB, while the 10.1-inch MeMO Pad 10 has options of 8 or 16 GB capacities. The MeMO Pad 8 has a 5-megapixel rear camera while its larger sibling only has a lower 2-megapixel one. Both have 1.2 megapixel front-facing cameras, though. The MeMO Pad 10 is said to have a A-GPS with GLONASS while the MeMO Pad 8 doesn’t.

Both tablets are now available in Taiwan and the prices do not disappoint. The ASUS MeMO Pad 8 has a suggested retail price of NT$ 7,990, around $270, while the ASUS MeMO Pad 10 will sell for NT$ 8,990, roughly $310.
