One of the problems that plague devices with novel sizes or shapes, such as the 6.44-inch Sony Xperia Z Ultra, is the dearth of accessories fitted for the device. But owners of the giant phablet need not worry as Sony has just outed the CP12 Power Cover, which might just be the only case you’ll ever need.
Announced last June, Sony’s current darling truly puts the “tablet” in phablet, with a 6.44-inch 1080p display, powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and 2 GB of memory and a 3000 mAh battery. That said, the phone is also extremely slim, only 6.5 mm in thickness, making owners surely anxious about the device’s safety. Fret not as Sony has just the right case that offers not only protection, but a few useful features as well.
The Sony CP12 is a flip-style case which, like most cases of that type, can also double as a desk stand when folded in a landscape orientation. However, the case also hides a 3000 mAh battery inside, offering the tablet a extra life at a touch of a button on the case. Sony is also throwing in a special EC21 charging cable with a magnetic connector that will allow charging both the Xperia Z Ultra and the CP12 batteries at the same time. What’s more, there is also an extendable aluminum stylus included in the package.
There is no price tag yet attached to the Sony CP12 Power Cover and it seems to be available only in black. The case does seem to add a bit of thickness and probably some heft, but those might just be worth the sacrifice for the features that it provides.
