The Samsung Galaxy Note III has been in the news a lot lately. Especially considering this smartphone tablet hybrid is expected to be debuted on September 4th at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Berlin next month. We’ve heard a different leak each week, most mirroring similar reports of specs, and today more have reportedly been “confirmed” by SamMobile. It’s more of the same, only the exact details are apparently on display.

This morning sources reported on a large 3,450 mAh battery to power the quad-core device with a huge 5.7-inch display, but now we’re getting conflicting reports. According to insiders at SamMobile it will actually have a 5.68-inch display, but they’ll probably just call it 5.7, and the battery will actually only be 3,200 mAh instead.

The Note II has a 5.5-inch display and a 3,100 mAh battery, so these incremental updates sound about right. The report even states it will come in nearly the exact same size and package as the Note II, only have a much bigger display, more power, and a bigger battery. So, it sounds like we’ll have another device just like the Galaxy S4, which looks nearly identical to the older GS3. If you were hoping for something different from Samsung, don’t get your hopes up.

The leakster confirms the 5.68-inch display will come on a device with 3GB of RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Which we’ve confirmed from multiple previous leaks. It also states they’ll offer their Exynos 5 octa 8-core processor for one variant, and an unknown 4G LTE capable chip for the other. Most likely that will be a Snapdragon 800 from Qualcomm with 3GB of RAM for the US. We’ve heard this all before, and now we just need an actual image of the device before September 4th.

More details and everything you’d like to know (thus far) on the Note III can be found in the timeline of links below. Will you be buying if it’s the same minor update as the GS4 over the GS3? It looks that way!

  1. If I’m pleased with the specs, which I think I will be, I’ll be getting this device since I’m coming from the HTC 4G LTE and not the Note 2 so the minor updates won’t even be apparent to me.
