MetroPCS has added the budget LG Optimus F3 smartphone to its line up today, offering the handset to subscribers for $149 without a contract. Though not a high-end handset by any means, the Optimus F3 brings 4G LTE connectivity to users with decent hardware rounding it out.
The LG Optimus F3 was originally only available on Sprint, and was later announced last week for Virgin Mobile for a bit higher of a price tag than MetroPCS is charging. For the $149 price tag, buyers will get a 4-inch IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800. In addition, there’s Gorilla Glass 2 to help prevent cracks.
Inside, users will find a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, as well as a 2,460mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA-resolution front facing camera. The rear camera has an LED flash, and can record videos in up to 1080p HD. Software is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Connectivity includes NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi, and WiFi Direct.
The software comes with a few of its own features, as well, among them being a Quiet Mode, Live Effects for editing and recording videos, QSlide 2.0 for “advanced” multitasking activities, and SmartShare for sharing data with DNLA-capable devices. As mentioned above, users will also be able to use the carrier’s 4G network with the handset.

This device (on MetroPCS network) DOES NOT have an NFC chip. This was confirmed by the MetroPCS website, which does not list NFC as a feature, as well as a live chat with LG.
