Samsung has a history of releasing multiple variants of smartphones and it looks like that is a tradition that will continue. A recent leak is detailing a dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Mega 6.3. This leak came along with an image and some specs which basically tell the story of a handset that is the same with one exception — that extra SIM card slot.
Basically, the dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will retain the specs and features that you have already come to know about the currently available single-SIM model. That is to say a handset with a near-tablet-sized display of 6.3-inches. The display is 720p and the handset is powered by a dual-core 1.7 Exynos processor with 1GB of RAM.
Other goodies include Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a microSD card slot, 2 megapixel front-facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera. This handset should arrive with the model number of SCH-P729 and with an official name of Galaxy Mega 6.3 DUOS. That said, Samsung has yet to say anything official, but taking this leak along with a recent Bluetooth certification and it looks like that could soon change.
That being said, given we do not often see dual-SIM handset come to the US we aren’t expecting this one to arrive for that market anytime soon. The other clue as to where the Galaxy Mega 6.3 DUOS is heading comes from the source, the @leakschina Twitter account. For now, those in the US may still have a single-SIM version of the Mega 6.3 coming.
Details of a US Galaxy Mega 6.3 release are coming by way of the FCC. Based on a filing that appeared in late-June the handset is believed to be heading towards AT&T. The carrier has yet to offer anything official, however that filing had the handset showing support for AT&T LTE.
