Japanese carrier KDDI has announced its latest Android smartphone, the Sharp IS03, a 2.1 Eclair based handset with a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8650 processor and 9.6-megapixel camera. The KDDI IS03 has a 3.5-inch iPhone 4 matching 960 x 640 touchscreen with a low-power mode that can show status, missed calls and other information without the backlight being active.
As for connectivity, there’s EVDO Rev.A, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and even infrared, together with GPS and an FM transmitter. Japan’s 1-Seg mobile digital TV is also supported, with a pull-out antenna on the top of the phone. The KDDI Sharp IS03 will arrive in Japan at the end of November; no word on if Sharp is planning to release a version for the US or Europe.
