Have you ever wanted to explore the beautiful Galapagos Islands and see the world’s largest tortoises, clear-blue waters, and stunning landscape? Well soon you’ll be able to with Google Street View. A single click will take you from that computer chair to one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world.

These islands were made famous by Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution, and scientists have been enjoying and exploring the regions for many years. Now you can too because Google took their entire Trekker program and Google Street View team, compete with under-water cameras and more, to the islands and are letting us enjoy this otherworldly part of nature.

Must be great doing that job. Sign me up! Today Google released a blog post confirming some of the details, and giving us some insight into the project. They’ve recently traveled through the Grand Canyon, and now it’s time to catch some rays on the beaches of the Galapagos.

Google went on a 10-day journey of hiking, boating, diving, sightseeing and more in order to get full 360 degrees images of the beautiful islands. They walked through lava fields and even entered into the depths of a few active volcanoes along the way. Google ends by stating a picture is worth a thousand words, and these images will be used to understand, protect, and preserve this beautiful area for years to come.

The Street View images aren’t available just yet, but will be coming soon.
