Amazon will soon be expanding the availability of the Kindle Fire HD 7 and the HD 8.9. According to details coming from Amazon, the tablets are now available for customers in more than 170 countries around the world. Pre-orders will begin today and the devices are expected to begin shipping on June 13.
While Amazon hasn’t given a full country list, they have said those in Ireland and Gibraltar will be able to order from the Amazon UK site and those in Austria and Luxembourg will be able to order from the Amazon Germany site. Additionally, those living in Monaco should look towards the Amazon France site.
Pricing for the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD will begin at $214 with the 8.9-inch model sitting at $284. Both the 7-inch and 8.9-inch models will be available in the 16GB and 32GB varieties and for those prices, we are taking the ‘without’ special offers model. The Kindle Fire HD 7 will have an HD display at 1280 x 800 and the HD 8.9 will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Both devices will rely heavily on Amazon for content, which brings the next bit of news. In addition to expanding the Kindle Fire HD to more than 170 countries, Amazon has also expanded the availability of the Appstore. The Amazon Appstore availability will jump to “nearly” 200 countries and to celebrate — Amazon will bring back some of the popular free app of the day offers.
The Free App of the Day offer, as the name would imply, will give users the option to download a normally paid app for free. On May 23rd the free app will be Fruit Ninja and on May 24th the free app will be Cut The Rope: Experiments. Amazon has also said that several brands will be offering limited time discounts. Some of the named brands include Ubisoft, Sega and Rovio who will have Angry Birds Space available for free through June 3.
